Superior Street reconstruction, Part Two

Superior Street reconstruction, looking east from Superior Street and South Fifth Avenue West

Dumpster full of scrap metal, a few feet west of Superior Street and South Fourth Avenue West

Another information sign that proves little useful information, next to the dumpster west of Superior Street and South Fourth Avenue West

Is this a rail for the abandoned streetcar line on Superior Street?

This is a poster for the “Reach for the Rainbow” event at the Rainbow Center

The first picture has a noticeable reflection from a nearby window, which overlooks Second Street, which is behind and to the right of where I am standing.

For the second picture, I took two steps to the right, blocking with my body the reflection from that window.

A few spring 2018 potholes in the alley south of King Manor

Walking or driving, we have large potholes and small potholes for you to dodge around.  If you happen to walk into one of these deep and wide potholes, you get wet feet.  If you happen to drive into one of these deep and wide potholes, you get to pay your mechanic to have your vehicle get expensive vehicle repair.

I wonder how many days or weeks it will take the Duluth Public Works and Utilities Department to fill these potholes.

One more AniMinneapolis or Anime Minneapolis 2017 photo

I took this photo outside the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis on the Loring Greenway, an urban garden and pedestrian walkway.  Many who attended Anime Minneapolis 2017 wore beautiful and colorful costumes.

Fun with Garry's Mod

I put ten Half-Life 2 Civil Protection or “Metro Cop” rag dolls in a Ravenholm map.  During my battle with un-Civil Protection, this rag doll fell into this dancing position without any additional posing from me.

I bought a new My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic magazine for Mason

As Mason is an adventurous boy, I understand why he likes physically competitive Rainbow Dash!

This pony magazine would be a great gift for anyone who loves My Little Pony:  Friendship is Magic.

The light rain turned into light snow

I know what cynical residents say about local weather:  “If you don't like the weather in the Twin Ports now, just wait a few minutes and it will change, often for the worse.”  At least much of the toxic smoke will be turned into toxic rain and toxic snow.

The day after the Husky Energy oil refinery fire

From the fifth floor of my apartment building, I see a typical rainy day in the Twin Ports.  While the fire has been extinguish at the Superior Husky refinery, I’m sure dozens of specialized workers will have many months of cleanup and then reconstruction before they completely mend what the fire and explosions destroyed.  While I love opportunities to post dynamic photos that look like they being to an Arnold Schwarzenegger action movie to my blog; I’m aware of the unexpected and unwanted hardships to these in harm’s way.

Husky Energy oil refinery huge explosion and very hot fire, Part Three

I took this photo on the west end of the north pier of the Duluth Ship Canal.

I took this photo nearer the Aerial Lift Bridge, while still standing on the north pier.

I took this photo after I had walked back to my apartment building.

I took these photos of the black smoke on the south side of the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.

The old sidewalk phone kiosk is still standing.

I had thought that this phone kiosk would have been taken down by now.

Duluth's Lakewalk at Canal Park

I hope that the Lakewalk can be repaired within a few weeks, in time for the summer tourist season.

The ninth day after the snowstorm

A light rain dissolved the snow piles in my frame, although there are still a few small snow piles scattered around my apartment.  This is the last photo of my photo essay for the April snowstorm.

Monday, April 23, 2018

On my way back to my apartment, I saw this old sidewalk phone kiosk.

This old sidewalk phone kiosk will soon be gone.

The sidewalk phone kiosk has no phone and thus no good reason to stay there.

The ceremonial helmets for the Kick Up the Bricks event.

I enjoyed the free coffee and cookies!

After the event concluded, I ate two free hot dogs.

Or, should I say that this Stress Relief Squeeze Toy is in fact is a soft hat helmet?

Kick Up the Bricks event, Part 7 – Stress Relief Squeeze Toy Cone

I got this Stress Relief Squeeze Toy Cone on the day of this event!

And this is the hole in Superior Street that was created by lifting those bricks.

My invitation to the King Manor Easter Spring Party

If you live in an apartment building, does your residents' club sponsor any social events?

The sixth day after the snowstorm

A few more days of warmth and the snow piles should disappear for the winter of 2017 – 2018.

I love these International Delight ® Creamer Singles in my coffee

I wonder how someone gets a job and then makes a worthwhile career designing advertising graphics like those used on these creamer singles.
