One way that the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic is impacting my life

The King Manor Buy a fruit and/or vegetable Basket Co-op is now suspended until further notice.  It could be next year before the Buy a Basket Co-op is resumed.

More Vision Northland construction images

I found that structural steel beams are being put together for the Superior Street entrance.

I see a third construction crane east of King Manor.

Here are all three cranes that will build Essentia Health's Vision Northland project in Duluth.

The crane nearest East Second Street is the newest and shortest of the three cranes.

How I remember to put on my medical mask before walking out of my apartment

I place my mask on my front door handle to make sure that I put this on my face before I walk outside my apartment.

My perception of time in April during this deadly Coronavirus pandemic

While each day is flying by, the month of April seems to be about a year-long.  Thus, my perception of time is that it is both speeding up and slowing down at the same time.

I found an occurrence at King Manor, Fourth Floor Dining Room.

I have no idea why this section of the dining room carpet was taken up.  I also have no idea when or how the missing carpet will be replaced.

My post title is a play-on-words on “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge” a short story by the American writer and Civil War veteran Ambrose Bierce.

Kick Up the Bricks - Superior Street Reconstruction - Phase Three

Superior Street reconstruction workers have unearthed street rails and ties.  I am on Superior Street looking east, between North First Avenue West and Lake Avenue.

A pile of wooden street railroad ties that time and weather have made useless for anything other than landfill.

These wooden street railroad ties have not see the sun in generations of Duluth residents.  I wonder when another street railroad will be built on Super Street.

I found an original way for a bag of Peanut M&M's to get stuck in the vending machine.

When that bag of Peanut M&M's got wedged upside down into the complex door hinges, I’m sure that upset someone who wanted to eat those Peanut M&M's.  That someone spent $1.25 and did not get their bag of Peanut M&M's.

Those machine engineers who design these vending machines should have tested their machines to find those design flaws before they sold these machines to vending companies.

I found signposts for the Superior Street reconstruction project.

I saw a box of wooden signposts for the Superior Street reconstruction project.

I walked by several workers nailing signs onto the signposts for the Superior Street reconstruction project.

What is happening at the intersection of East Superior Street and Lake Avenue?

That is a hole being dug for Superior Street reconstruction that residents could mistake for a slightly bigger pothole that’s commonly found on Duluth streets.

I found a broken planter grate on Superior Street

A broken planter grate next to the Intrepid Building that is located at 230 East Superior Street.

Vision Northland construction for April 8, 2020

Image of Vision Northland construction cranes viewed from North Third Avenue East, between First Street and Second Street.

I know that these Superior Street buildings will soon become memories to make way for a Vision Northland parking structure.

I hope that someone will save this Voyageur Lakewalk Inn sign.

Happy Birthday Shelly!

Here is the tasty cake that I purchased for her birthday party.

This is my share of the cake and ice cream at Shelly’s birthday party.  Even during this Coronavirus pandemic, we can still share happiness and joy with our family and friends.  According to the law, we had less than ten people at Shelly’s birthday party.

The King Manor, Fourth Floor bulletin board for April 2020

Because almost all King Manor and Rainbow Center events have been cancelled, there are fewer posters on the fourth floor bulletin board.

A Coronavirus pandemic notice provided by BDS Laundry

Before the year 2020, I had read about and seen descriptions of the 1918 pandemic virus.  However, while living my day-to-day life I did not image that something like the Coronavirus pandemic could happen outside of science fiction in the twenty-first century.  I wonder how many more ways this Coronavirus pandemic will temporarily or permanently change all of our lives.

Fringeworthy comic by Hobbes Maxwell, Part Five

The large ring they found is a gateway to a very big platform that leads to other worlds in other realities.

Sayuri is retracing the steps of the dead explorer.  I wonder what she will find on those other worlds.

The next to last line is “end of part one”.  I hope someone or several people working together will continue this story with part two.

Wednesday, April 1, 2020

I found a new HRA poster in King Manor about the Coronavirus pandemic in Minnesota.

I wonder how much more of my life will be upended by the deadly Coronavirus.  I wonder how many more months will pass before humanity sees the end of this pandemic.
