The front doors to the Rainbow Community Center

Except for a few special events, our neighborhood community center has been closed for many months.

King Manor’s fourth floor bulletin board for June 28, 2021

I’m happy that I’m seeing new posters for future events posted here.

Celebrate the grand re-opening of the Rainbow Community Center

Many people I know will be very happy when the Rainbow Community Center reopens to the public.

Railroad Museum Gallery Car Opening June 28, 2021 – Part 3

As a railroad fan, I am happy that I live within walking distance of a famous railroad museum.

Railroad Museum Gallery Car Opening June 28, 2021 – Part 2

The gallery car exhibit is created by the excellent photography of David Schauer.  This is a must see for fans of Upper Midwest railroads.

Railroad Museum Gallery Car Opening June 28, 2021 – Part 1

Today, I toured the Official Opening of a new exhibit in the Gallery Car at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum.

I got my two COVID-19 vaccine shots

My COVID-19 vaccine protects me and those around me from COVID-19.

How I make Chai Tea Latte at home

I use Almond Breeze® Vanilla non-dairy almond milk and Oregon Chai® Vanilla Chai Tea Latte.  This beverage tastes good and is good for you.

I attended Michelina’s All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner, Part 2

I got seconds and then Ben & Jerry’s ice cream for dessert.

I attended Michelina’s All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner, Part 1

I got this much food for fourteen dollars!

Who is Eli Lehti

Today, I got this misdirected mail in my apartment mailbox.  I gave this Brass Pro Shops brochure to HRA in hopes that Eli Lehti will receive their mail.

King Manor’s fourth floor bulletin board for June 18, 2021

As HRA pandemic restrictions are eased, our bulletin board has new posts for the revived King Manor Residents’ Club.  Only time will tell if any of my suggestions for the club will be implemented.

How I would improve the King Manor Residents’ Club

During the next meeting of the King Manor Residents’ Club, I move that the newly elected officers do this to benefit all residents.

First, spend about one minute talking about themselves, such as their name and then how long they have lived in King Manor.

Second, spend about one minute talking about their qualifications, such as their education, achievements, and experiences to hold their current club positions.

Third, spend about one minute talking about their plans for the club.  Will they plan for club events to celebrate national holidays?  Will they start a club vegetable garden?  Will they plan for other events such as a weekly family movie night and getting Netflix for the club, game night such as board games and tabletop role playing-games, setting up a club blog, and trips on the North Shore Scenic Railroad?

During each new election, this talk should be required for all office candidates before the vote.

Lakewalk sign

I wonder when this informational sign that was posted in 2018 will be updated.

Lakewalk concrete

South of the Lakewalk and north of the natural rock formations known as “The Ledges”, is a stretch of mature forest that is the dumping grounds of discarded road and street concrete.  I wonder how many pieces of concrete pipes and sidewalks rest in this forest.

Where we should build solar panel paved bicycle paths in Duluth, Minnesota

The Lakewalk bicycle path in Canal Park gets full sunlight.  Thus, this path is an excellent place for SolaRoad solar panels.

The London Road, Lakewalk bicycle path underpass that is east of the Lakewalk Parking lot - Holiday Station gets few hours of full sunlight.  Thus, this path is an abysmal place for SolaRoad solar panels.

An igloo made of lights at Bentleyville 2019

While I was clearing out my Nikon camera’s memory, I found an image that I didn’t post here until now.

Beer Garden at Glensheen

I see that every Wednesday evening in June 2021 a different local brewery will be featured at the beautiful Glensheen Mansion.  I found this sign by the Glansheen parking lot advertising the event.

I see that Tischer Creek beside Glansheen could be used as a location for a Dungeons & Dragons live-action television series.  I also see that according to The Hollywood Reporter, John Wick creator and screenwriter Derek Kolstad is planning to write the scripts for a live-action D&D series for Hasbro & eOne.  That good news makes the D&D gamer me happy.

I found a sidewalk made in 1913 in Duluth, MN.

This sidewalk was made about one year before the First World War.

River Route Bike, Walk and Roll, Part 2

This is the Cross-City Trail going under the Richard I. Bong Memorial Bridge.

I wonder how a graffiti artist was able to paint a surface about twenty feet about the ground.

The red and green arrow points to the letters about twenty feet about the ground.  Did the graffiti artist use a ladder or stand on parked railroad cars to paint those words?

River Route Bike, Walk and Roll, Part 1

This event happened at Tuesday, Jun 8, 2021 between 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

This is the protective roof to protect bicyclists and walkers from iron ore pellets falling off the iron ore dock.

This is a map beside the iron ore dock for the most recently-constructed portion of the Cross-City Trail.

I made a new post for the King Manor Residents’ Club

The Resident Council Meeting will be on the Fourth Floor of the common area on June 9, 2021 at 5 PM.

Every King Manor resident, from grandchildren to grandparents, is encouraged to attend our next Resident Council meeting.  Assist in the spending of the Tenant Participation Funds to improve the quality of life for all residents.  Meet your fellow residents who are running for your club officers this September.  I hope to see you at this important meeting.

Today, I saw Spirit Untamed

Produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Universal Pictures, Spirit Untamed is a movie that I didn’t expect to hit me in the feels.  Spirit Untamed is a 10 out of 10 movie.

Bus Bike Walk 2021: Better Central Entrance

Created by Zeitgeist and the Duluth-Superior Metropolitan Interstate Council, this event assisted Duluth citizens to give ideas on how to reconstruct Duluth’s Central Entrance.  This was advertised as a “Bus, Bike, Walk event” as one part of the June series celebrating, educating, and empowering the building of people-powered modes for getting around Duluth. The event was location at 3 W. Central Entrance in Duluth.

To combat the growing threat of dangerous climate change, we must give citizens options of people-powered modes for getting around Duluth.  Also, the Minnesota Department of Transportation is planning to fully reconstruct Central Entrance in 2026.  Thus, get your ideas for reconstructing Central Entrance to the address below by June 30, 2021.

This week, I’m reading “Little Girl x Scoop x Evil Eye”

https://mangakakalot.com/manga/xs922998

This is a well-crafted story about an average man who was pulled into a magical world, makes friends with an energetic heroine, and over some time becomes a famous adventurer.

For the third time, I saw Raya and the Last Dragon

This movie’s run time is 107 minutes (1 Hour and 47 Minutes).  Yet it seems to me as I watch this movie, it is far shorter in run time than 107 minutes.  This proves to me the old saying 'time flies when you're having fun'.
