The carpet is being replaced in the vending machine
room on the fourth floor.
Right now, these vending machines are on the third
floor.
This is one more vending machine on the third floor.

Now decades old, this coin purse is still going strong.
This is the coin holder
of my small purse.
This is the dollar bill
holder of my purse.
This is the outside of the purse.
This is the coin holder of my small purse.
This is the key holder of my purse. Long ago, he key clasps had broken and fell
off the small metal bar.
I did not know that there was lemonade bread, until I
asked if there was lemonade bread. And
then, I searched for it on the World Wide Web (WWW).
There are posted notices for community events for
January and February 2025 on the fourth floor bulletin board.
Because of cold temperatures, I’m going to stay inside today. Thus, I plan to get my tasks done this Wednesday.
Today, Frank told me that my friend Barbara Findley has
passed away.
Years ago, I remember working in the King Manor, fourth
floor commons room on a poster for the King Manor residents’ Club. Barbara and Annie were supervising my work;
when I said something like, “”Look at this.
There are two supervisors and one worker.” Barbara replied to me, “That’s government
work for you.”
I found this still life art (garbage) on the east side
of North Second Avenue East, between East First Street and East Second Street.
Now only one elevator is out of service. According to my friend Frank, the elevator
repair technicians were in King Manor until midnight attempting to get one of
the elevators working again.
I found this notice on the first floor, where the HRA
offices are. That is why this wall has wood
paneling.
I found this notice on the ground floor.
“After a snowstorm is the best time to be in the woods,
because all the empty beer and soda cans and candy wrappers disappear, and you
don't have to try as hard to be in another time. Plus there's just something
beautiful about walking on snow that nobody else has walked on.”
- Carol Rifka Brunt
“I often think that the night is more alive and more
richly colored than the day.”
- Vincent Van Gogh
I was standing on the pedestrian bridge between King
Manor and the North Pointe Resource Center.
I was looking west above East Second Street.
“The color brown, I realized, is anything but nondescript.
It comes in as many hues as there are colors of earth, which is commonly
presumed infinite.”
- Barbara Kingsolver
Whoever designed King Manor, designed it using 50
shades of brown.
“Success consists of going from failure to failure without
loss of enthusiasm.”
- Winston Churchill, British prime minister
I found this small bulletin board on the pedestrian bridge between King Manor and the North Pointe Resource Center.
“The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of
your dreams.”
- Oprah Winfrey, talk show host
I enjoy attending events at the First Presbyterian Church
of Duluth.
“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain
way to succeed is always to try just one more time. “
- Thomas A. Edison, inventor
I see a mixture of both old and new posters.
“The dinner hour is a sacred, happy time when everyone
should be together and relaxed.”
- Julia Child
“Dinner is where the magic happens in the kitchen.”’
- Kris Carr
I look forward to eating this good food with good friends.
“Think what a better world it would be if we all, the
whole world, had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then
lay down on our blankets for a nap.”
- Barbara Jordan
I have no idea who abandoned two blankets on the
streets of Duluth, Minnesota.
“There aren't many things that are universally cool,
and it's cool not to litter.”
- Matthew McConaughey
I wonder how this still life litter came to be on First
Street.
This is a nice Depot Christmas display. I wonder how many more days these Christmas displays
will remain here until they are taken down and then put back into the storage
rooms?
I sure am looking forward
to First Presbyterian Church events for
January 2025. The first “There is room
at the table for you” meal starts at January 8, at 5:00 PM for a healthy supper,
followed by bingo games.
I don’t think that I’ve eaten bread made with traditional
weiss beer. “Weissbier is brewed with at
least 50% wheat malt and fermented with the characteristic top fermenting yeast
cultures. This combination produces a
complex aroma profile tasting of spices and ripe fruits.”
