King Manor apartment central stairway saga, 2020 edition

After attempting to block off this stairway to the roof with a chain, King Manor apartment custodians install a strong, metal gate.  I thought that after the last two attempts to keep people off the rooftop landing that the custodians had given up attempting to keep the homeless from sleeping on the rooftop landing.

Frozen 2 advertising on Dole bananas

I was surprised that I found Frozen 2 advertising on Dole bananas.

Do you think that I bought these bananas because these have an image of Anna on them?  Yes, I did purchase these bananas because these have an image of Anna on them.  I do love the inspiring “POWERING THE HERO WITHIN” slogan.

Healthier air and healthier bodies for King Manor residents

As a lifelong nonsmoker, I welcome with a smile this excellent news that my King Manor apartment building will completely become a no smoking building.

I procured boxes of food service gloves for the King Manor Residents’ Club

I know that after this Coronavirus Pandemic is over, that King Manor Residents’ Club special events will restart.  I promised club President Barb that I would get food service gloves to keep residents safe during club social meals at these events.  I bought these boxes of gloves for five dollars each at Minnesota Foodservice Co.  This business is located at 218 East Superior Street - Duluth, MN 55802.  And, if you have need for food service gloves or anything related to food service, you should purchase those items here.

Fringeworthy comic by Hobbes Maxwell, Part Four

I’m sure that nothing strange will happen to you if you interact with the alien made artifact that you found a few minutes ago.

In case what happened in this page is vague to you, Sayuri traveled to a large platform with several gates leading to unknown places.  The platform is within another reality that is a huge black void filled with points of lights that appear to be stars.

How the Coronavirus Pandemic changes everyday life at King Manor

I found two posters about locking doors that have been open before this 2020 Pandemic.

The HRA staff is changing the way that they service residents and apartment applicants.

The farthest that I’ve traveled this year is the University of Minnesota Duluth.

My Fuse Duluth event for 3/12/2020, Part Three

I took more images of the theater dressing rooms.

As the message says, “Do not sit on the countertops”.

The tour took us to the theater storage rooms where many items are kept.

This is an informal meeting room where plans are made and actors socialize with each other.

Our tour guide told the Fuse Duluth tour that this luck star is touched for good luck by actors as they walk upstairs to do their performances.

This would not be a James Buchanan blog without images of my lunch.

My Italian sandwich boxed lunch was good, while I talked to other members of our tour.  I also passed out a few of my business cards to other Fuse Duluth members.

A second construction crane appears at the Vision Northland construction site

Here is the view of the two cranes on the east side of the Rainbow Community Center and North Third Avenue East.  These two cranes will be in view of the Rainbow Community Center for many months.

Here is the view of the two cranes east of Saint Ann's Residence and North Fourth Avenue East.

Duluth’s Rainbow Community Center is closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

I know of several disappointed people who depended on the Rainbow Community Center for many of their physical and social needs.  They and I feel crestfallen that this closure could last weeks or months.  For some reason unknown to me, the word “coronavirus” is still not recognized by my version of Microsoft Word.

My two thoughts on the Coronavirus Pandemic

While the skies are dark and gray, both literally and figuratively, we should keep smiling to reassure those around us, while uplifting our inner attitudes and spirits.

Whoever is in control of the times, please tell him or her to take these times back.  These interesting times are far too interesting for me.

King Manor Buy a basket Co-op Fruits and Vegetables for March 19, 2020

You get this much fruit for five dollars.

You get these many vegetables for five dollars.

My Fuse Duluth event for 3/12/2020, Part Two

The Fuse Duluth event then entered the Duluth Playhouse with the large masks of Tragedy and Comedy that were created for the now demolished Lyceum Theater.

The Duluth Playhouse seats are new, thanks to generous donations to the theater.

Many live performances have been presented on this stage.

We were walked backstage to see dressing rooms with many mirrors and lights.

I found these handwritten messages of encouragement on one of the backstage mirrors.  From time to time, we all need these words of encouragement to keep us going on paths of our choosing.

My Fuse Duluth event for 3/12/2020, Part One

This is my “Behind the Scenes Tour of the Historic St. Louis County Depot”.  This event was coordinated by Mary Tennis, St. Louis County Depot.  This event started in the Duluth Depot Great Hall.  Mary said that by 2023 the Great Hall could become the entrance for a station for the Northern Lights Express trains.

The Ruth Maney Room is being reconstructed due to water damage.

This closed window is in the north wall of the Ruth Maney Room.  I didn’t know this window was there until the drywall was taken down.

This is a closed vent in the west wall of the Ruth Maney Room.

This room belongs to the Duluth Fiber Handcrafters Guild.  I love how there are so many talented people in the Twin Ports that can craft such wonderful things.

Vision Northland construction March 8, 2020

I took this image looking southeast from the Essentia Health - Duluth Clinic Third Street Building “Green Ramp”, second floor that is located on East Second Street.

I took this image between Superior Street and East First Street, looking west.

Adas Israel Congregation demolition is complete

I wonder what structure or parking lot will be placed at the site of Adas Israel Congregation.  Also, that yellow backhoe has been on the site for months and I’m wondering what purpose is it doing there.

Image was taken looking east from the corner of East Third Street and North Third Avenue East.

This evening, I saw a second show of “My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising”

I desire more Japanese animation screened in United States theaters.  Thus, I need to support that goal by seeing Japanese animation at my local theater.
