All that remains was the wings

On North Second Avenue East and next to the west facing wall of the Shrine Auditorium, I found a pair of wings.

What is posted on King Manor, fourth floor bulletin board for August 26, 2024?

This Friday, August 30, 2024, I will be attending the delayed King Manor Residents’ Club Special Election.  I was kicked out of the position of treasurer during a problematic vote.  Yes, I am still resentful about that questionable vote.  Therefore, have no interest in running for that open position again.

Apple Cider bread slices, part 2

These three slices have butter on them.

This slice has apple butter on it.

Apple Cider Bread

While the bread baker is in Essentia Health for prophylactic surgery, also known as preventive surgery; Shelly brought to me two loaves of her apple cider bread.

At UMD, I bought a big box of Crayola ® Washable Sidewalk Chalk

As a child, I never owned, nor did I know of anyone else who owned, such a big box of Sidewalk Chalk.

North Pointe Resource Center / Rainbow Center visitors will love creating sidewalk art with 48 colors of sidewalk chalk.

University of Minnesota, Duluth - Kirby Student Center - Bulletin Board

I see that there are many education and fun events for UMD students.

Next week, Salsa Week

Tuesday, I found this sign at the Central Hillside Farmer’s Market.  I am happy that this Farmer’s Market is having event weeks.

Thursday, August 22, 2024

I attended the Lincoln Park Farmers Market – The End

Despite the light rain, I found a well-attended Farmers Market, with many kinds of food to purchase.

I attended the Lincoln Park Farmers Market - Part 1

This is a convenient location for a Farmer’s market.  I can get there and back to my King Manor by city bus.

Abandoned coat in elevator

Why would anyone abandon their coat in a public elevator on the Duluth Skywalk?

Canal Park railroad track

There was once a railroad siding leading to now gone industries, including a scrap yard covering an entire city block, where a surface parking lot has been built.

Ciderboys ™ Apple Cider

I wonder how bread, made with Ciderboys Apple Cider, will taste.

Welcome to the NPRC, Part 2

A rainstorm washed away the first welcome sign.  Therefore, I drew another one that is bigger.

What I found posted on the Fifth Floor King Manor Bulletin Board

There was a notice (circled in yellow) for a Wednesday night supper at the First Presbyterian Church on August Seventh.  Somehow, I missed seeing that rather small notice until today.

I have slices of my apple strawberry bread.

This bread was baked with Ciderboys ™ Strawberry Magic ™ - an apple strawberry hard cider.

These slices are topped with Craft N Crave strawberry jam.

I got a loaf of apple strawberry bread.

I wish that my readers could taste how tasty this unusual bread is.  This bread reminds me of cream cheese strawberry pastry.

Twin Ports Video Center carrying case

I have no idea how or why I now have this Twin Ports Video Center carrying case in my apartment.

However, this case is a nice travel bag or a storage container.

Wednesday, August 14, 2024

I bought Ciderboys ™ Strawberry Magic ™ an apple strawberry hard cider.

I brought the nice lady of Canal Park Liquors a slice of my apple crisp hard cider bread.  She, her daughter, and another employee all told me that they loved my apple crisp hard cider bread.

I made a second “Support NLX” sign.

This chalk art “Support NLX” sign is south of the North Pointe Resource Center, on East Second Street.  It is on the east side of the pedestrian bridge linking King Manor to the North Pointe Resource Center.

Building Role-Playing Campaigns 9: The End

For Game Masters, it can be tricky designing original animals and monsters for your campaign.  The reason to design original animals and monsters is to create unique encounters or unexpected chapter bosses.  This handout helps you create both animals and monsters that your players can’t look up in the Monster Manual or Dragon magazine.

Building Role-Playing Campaigns 8

As a tabletop role-playing game master, you should plan each adventure outline only for your next game session.  When one session had been completed, take into account the choices your players have made, and then use that knowledge to create an outline for your next session.

Have a flexible mind when creating ideas.  In other words, make your adventure outline out of ropes, to change with the choices your players have made.  Lastly, make your adventure outline fun for both you and your players.

I attended the Lincoln Park Farmers Market – The End

This is the delicious taco that I ate on a Harrison Park - picnic table.

Someone is giving away the 2 magic words that I love so much, free food?  Count me in!

This is artistic chalk art advertising!

After a refreshing rainstorm, I redrew again my “Support NLX” message.

The Rail Passengers Association’s white paper, “Long Distance Trains: a Foundation for National Mobility,” said, “Goals like ‘operational self-sufficiency,’ ‘profit,’ or (minimal) federal operating support are neither reasonable nor sound public policy objectives. This is supported by the fact that federal and state funds subsidize air and road travel. The effect of these goals is to block improvements needed to modernize the nation’s intercity passenger train system and rejuvenate our increasingly expensive and dysfunctional transportation system. The driving purpose should be to harvest the public benefits that trains produce for the communities they serve and for the nation as a whole. Studies have found that even one train a day produces benefits that exceed costs.”

Abandoned boots

Why would anyone abandon their boots on the north side of East Second Street, between North Third Avenue East and North Fourth Avenue East?

These are my slices of my Dragon's Milk Bourbon Barrel-Aged Stout bread

These Bourbon bread slices are topped with sweet honey butter.

Building Role-Playing Campaigns 7

For my next D&D campaign, I want my players and me to collaborative on a series of “light and humorous” stories.  A campaign that is more “Friendship is Magic” and less “Game of Thrones”.

Also, I noticed that this page deals with campaign ideas for the Dungeon Master's Guide instead of the Player's Handbook.  What are some of your favorite campaign ideas that are listed on page seven?

I redrew my “Support NLX” message

NLX will be a great investment for the Upper Midwest.

Also, I am happy that Kamala Harris selected the 41st governor of Minnesota Timothy James Walz as her nominee for vice president.  In 2025 and beyond, I am sure Vice President Timothy Watz will be an important person in funding the construction of NLX.

I got Dragon's Milk Bourbon Barrel-Aged Stout bread

I never knew that bourbon bread would taste so good.

Building Role-Playing Campaigns 6

I’m looking forward to buying and then using the D&D 2024 Player's Handbook in my future campaign.  I wonder how many of the excellent ideas in these 30-year-old handouts will be in the D&D 2024 Player's Handbook.

I am happy that D&D has moved away from D&D as a tabletop miniatures game, where the player characters are expandable and replaceable pawns; becoming a storytelling game, where the same player characters can be played for months, years, or decades.  I love it when the player characters cooperating with each other, as well as the Dungeon Master’s non-player characters, over time create epic stories.
