The North Pointe Resource Center (NPRC) Friday movie didn’t happen today; for the reason that the NPRC was closed on account of last night's winter storm.

What did I find on the north side of East Superior Street?

On a Tech Village LLC windowsill, someone had abandoned their new toothbrush.  Why would someone abandon their new toothbrush in Duluth, Minnesota?

I found an abandoned shoe and 3 socks at the DTA bus stop.

This bus stop is across the street from the Essentia Health Building B.

I found “Courage” at the Burggraf's Ace Hardware DTA bus stop.

I was surprised that Hoppers would be this entertaining.

I ate this delicious cheese sandwich.

Furries at my University

I’m sure that Saberspark, who is often associated with the furry community, approves of this University student club.  I wanted to add the name Saberspark to my published vocabulary words.

 

I wonder if University Dungeons and Dragons players will have a collaboration event with the University Furries.  I can imagine these human players enjoying a Dungeons and Dragons campaign where all the players play Tabaxi, a unique species that blends the qualities of humanoids and cats, as their player characters.  I believe that University clubs should have combined social events focused on shared interests.

Why is there a warning message to not take down this poster on the bottom of this poster?  According to an article in the student newspaper “The Bark” this is why that warning message was printed there.

The weeks leading up to the showing of The Fandom, a movie about the history of furries, was a frustrating time for the Anthropomorphic Student Association, or the ASU officers. No matter how many posters they put up, they were always taken down.

According to an officer who goes by the fursona Lavana, close to 40 posters were torn down. “I have been harassed on campus,” Lavana said. While putting up posters a group of students approached him and said “You damn furries, would you just stop. You don't have the right to post things here.” He had never heard anything so hateful, but that encounter did not discourage Lavana.

The never-ending fight to keep their posters up was all leading up to Dec. 1, when 26 curious UMD students entered the rafters where the event was held to watch the film and stay for a Q and A. The Fandom is a 2020 documentary detailing the rise of the furry fandom; its roots, values, and the joy of self expression and creativity.

I have no idea why bigots would vandalize posters of a student club, where the club members love being fans of fictional anthropomorphic characters.
