I found this tasteless graffiti on the east side of the Sellwood Building.

Why would someone write the word “Sleep” on this electrical box?

This is the Waterspot Infoshop

On most days, I walk past the Waterspot Infoshop to get onboard the buses that take me to where I need to travel to.  Sometimes, I put things in the free store, seen on the right side of the picture, for the less fortunate to better their lives.

On their front door is a calendar listing Waterspot Infoshop events open to the public.

What message I found tied on a trash can in Lake Place Park.

It is true that “Sometimes you have to pick up other people’s trash”.

I found another “I’m Homeless” sign.

People would be better off looking for honest work, rather than asking for handouts.

This is my Banana Bread.

This very tasty Banana Bread is made with Giffard Banane du Brésil liqueur.

I found bread on the sidewalk

I found this bread on the northeast street corner of East First Street and North Second Avenue East.  Who leaves bread out on the sidewalk for the birds to eat?

This is Frank’s cat Miss Trouble.

The Housing and Redevelopment Authority of Duluth, Minnesota staff asked Frank for identification photos for Miss Trouble.

Here is a funny comic that I made for my friend Frank.

FurFactoryAI is the best website for furry characters that I am aware of.

I would love for this artist to create my original character reference sheet when I get an idea for an original character.

I found out that the HRA North Pointe Resource Center will be closed for 1 month.

This unexpected closure came with 2 days notice that my favorite place to chat with my friends, vote for my web comic, shop at the thrift store, and attend fun events will be closing for about 1 month.

Those are the reasons why I am sad that my North Pointe Resource Center will be closed for 1 month.

These 2 informational posters are on the front doors to the North Pointe Resource Center.  The second poster is posted on the inner doors.  I am under the concrete canopy that covers the sidewalk and driveway.

I ate a free meal at the First Presbyterian Church.

This is my first picnic meal I have eaten this year.

This is my blueberry pie that I ate for my dessert.

These are the last few minutes I spent at the Wild Rose Family Expo 2026.

I found a camel who was “dancing” to the music.

I found a “your logo here” advertisement for getting money for the Wild Rose Family Expo.

I intend to attend the Wild Rose Family Expo in 2027.

I found handout maps for the DECC and for Duluth’s Commercial Historic District.

What did I find at the Wild Rose Family Expo 2026?

I found these signs pointing to family fun events at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.

I found these animals who are wondering who these funny appearing creatures these humans are.  I wonder if extraterrestrial aliens turn ordinary humans into furry humans, and then put them into extraterrestrial petting zoos.

What about a television series where extraterrestrial aliens have spent thousands of years training humans on our Earth into loving furries so much that they are now willing to become furries.

I found the pony rides that I would have loved when I was a child.

Still Life Directors Cut

This is my motion pictures, video essay about still life, the directors cut.

Lisa Delivers Dominos – Final Version

I didn’t know that delivering pizza would be so interesting.

Bentleyville is so awesome

Bentleyville is America’s biggest free to enter, walk-through lighting display – featuring over five million lights, live costumed characters, tasty refreshments such as cookies and hot chocolate, and a bewildering variety of themed displays.  Each year, Bentleyville welcomes more than 300,000 visitors.  That is more people than Duluth, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin combined!

Band Event JPB Directors Cut

This is a short video that I made for a journalism class at the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

I found this poster for Michelina's Spaghetti Dinner at Grandma's Marathon.

On my way to the Wild Rose Family Expo, I found this floor-to-ceiling poster in the pedestrian overpass over Interstate 35.

I found this poster for the Wild Rose Family Expo 2026.

I found this aesthetically-pleasing poster on the door at the Nordic Center Duluth.

Taco Saturday

These are the packaged ingredients that I will use to make my tasty tacos.

I see that the police have made another visit to King Manor.

Despite all that, I still feel safe while living in King Manor.  I took this image from the pedestrian overpass over East Second Street, looking east.

I bought a bottle of Giffard Banane du Brésil.

I bought banana liqueur for my baker to make banana bread.  The backdrop that I choose is the Chester Creek Bookstore on East Superior Street.

This former church once had a Sunday school building west of the church.  If I had the money, I would have bought this Sunday school building, for my new home.  This Sunday school building is now a memory.  Yet, if I could, I would build my new home at the same location.

Yesterday, before I attended Aaron Bransky’s “Duluth 101: Duluth on Rails” presentation;

I walked around the Lincoln Park Neighborhood.  I found another “Anything Helps” sign under the new Highway 53 overpass.

I then found this skull graffiti under the new Highway 53 overpass.

I also found a new section of sidewalk, connecting to a narrower, less maintained, and older section of sidewalk.

Rain was falling from the sky when I waited to take the bus back home.  Also, Superior Street was closed for construction.  As a result, I waited on West First Street in the rain, without a bus shelter to keep me drier and warmer.

Thursday, May 14, 2026

I saw that the NPRC is closed today.

An HRA staff member told me that there were too few staff members to open the NPRC in a safe way.  Thus, I did my heart-healthy exercise walking at the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

I found an abandoned sock and a stocking cap.

These 2 abandoned items were on the west side of the Bell Bank in the Temple Opera Block, Duluth’s Downtown.  I tend to find the strangest combinations of abandoned items in Downtown Duluth.

What I found in the Downtown Duluth ICO and Dairy Queen building, part 2.

In the men’s rest room, I saw that the old electric hand dryer has additional “art” on the right side.  I am reminded of this quote, “Graffiti is something written on a wall, and, of course, art can be exhibited or produced anywhere: a wall is just another venue. - Matthew Slotover.”

This is my chocolate chip banana bread.

My baker rarely swears.  Yet, she described the banana bread she baked as “damn good”.

The bear has a name!

I think these 2 words say, “I’m Grubs!”  Who would name their mascot bear Grubs?

Duluth 101: Duluth on Rails

Aaron Bransky presents a deep dive into Duluth's rail history, including information on streetcars and inclines.  I see that the social time starts at 5:30 p.m.; while the presentation starts at 6 p.m.

I attended the Italian-American Club’s spaghetti dinner.

This is the American Legion’s front door.

This is the tasty meal that I ate for my ten dollars.

I saw that the Resource Center “Journaling for Wellness” class was canceled today.

This police event might have had something to do with that class cancellation.

I found a poster for the Italian-American Club and American Legion spaghetti dinner.

I plan to attend the Italian-American Club and the American Legion fiftieth anniversary spaghetti dinner.  By traveling to the American Legion building, will make the farthest journey I have taken from King Manor this year.

For your information, this poster is in the lobby of King Manor.

Monday, May 11, 2026

I found a skull wearing a gas mask sticker.

This shiny sticker is on a stoplight pole on the street corner of East Superior Street and North Fortieth Avenue East.

Researching the web, I found out that a skull in a gas mask is a popular motif in art, photography, and costume design, often symbolizing post-apocalyptic, horror, or dystopian themes.

Sunday, May 10, 2026

I found these posters on the King Manor fifth floor bulletin board.

The April calendar is still on this bulletin board, despite it being May now.

I found this poster in the North Pointe Resource Center / Rainbow Center

According to their website:  “Meet Nisaa the compassionate founder of #YouMatter MN, whose journey to making a difference began with a heartwarming act of generosity: celebrating her birthday by spending the day with the homeless, sharing shoes, clothes, free BBQ, and cake in 2018.

“Driven by a profound belief in the power of community and inspired by the love of Jesus Christ, Nisaa continues to make a difference throughout the year by organizing regular community outreach events. Once or twice a month during the summer, Nisaa takes to the streets, distributing essential items such as shoes, clothes, food and more to those in need.

“In addition to these grassroots efforts, Nisaa leads #YouMatter MN in organizing impactful events throughout the year. From Back to School giveaways, Thanksgiving feasts, to Christmas toy drives, each initiative is a testament to Nisaa's unwavering dedication to spreading hope and joy to those who need it most, driven by the love and hope found in Jesus Christ.

“With a heart as generous as Nisaa's, the mission of #YouMatter MN goes beyond providing material support; it's about creating moments of connection, compassion, and empowerment, while showing the love of Jesus Christ. Nisaa envisions a world where everyone feels valued and supported, and through #YouMatter MN, they are turning that vision into reality, one event at a time.

“Join Nisaa and the #YouMatter MN community in spreading kindness and making a difference in the lives of others. Because at #YouMatter MN, every act of giving, no matter how small, has the power to bring hope and joy to those in need.”

I saw students walking to their high school prom party.

While I was walking back from the National Train Day 2026 event at the Depot; I saw this group walk toward the Radisson Hotel.  I wonder how many of these parties will happen this month, in Duluth, Minnesota and all over the United States?  I know that these high school students are growing up in a human society far different than the human society that existed when I was in high school.

Saturday, May 9, 2026

I attended National Train Day 2026 in Duluth, Minnesota.

Someday, I might live in a house and then I will build a model railroad in my basement.  Then, I would purchase these things to build an operating model railroad.  I would take an imaginary load of grain from the rural grain elevator to the brewery.  Then, I would take an imaginary load of bottled and canned beer from the brewery to a distribution warehouse, a port dock for loading into ships, and a model railroad yard for cargo shipment to places beyond the edge of the model railroad.

I see that Union Pacific is telling people to stay safe around trains.

I found an example of a garden railroad.

Some people have a model railroad in their basement and a second model railroad in their garden.

I see that the North Pointe Resource Center (NPRC) is closed today.

There was no water in the restrooms, thus the North Pointe Resource Center is closed today.  Because of this closure, I took the bus to walk the halls of UMD.

Yesterday evening, I saw “The Little Prince” play in the Duluth East Auditorium.

This is an advertisement for the play.

This is a message to the students to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe.  I believe in the wisdom of “Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you”.

This is the only theater stage prop on the stage that stayed in place for the entire theater performance.

That concludes my blog post for this event.  Since this was an enjoyable way to spend my evening, I might take in another event at East High School.
