I had train tickets, so I invited Kathy and her family
to ride the train with me. From right to
left Kathy’s daughter Megan, Megan’s son Mason, and her husband Jim.

My intellectual words become physical concrete
I noticed a sidewalk trip hazard on the south side of West Saint Marie
Street between Carver Avenue and Dunedin Avenue in Duluth, Minnesota.
This hazard was there
for at least three years and was a hazard for bicyclists, those with reduced
walking mobility, and wheelchair users.
I photographed the
hazard and then wrote an opinion letter for the Duluth New Tribune. This is the letter that was published.
A few days ago, the
defective sidewalk slabs were replaced with new sidewalk.
I wonder how many other
such sidewalk hazards exist, but no one calls attention to these?

Pre-dawn images of Lake Superior
I used my camera’s flash to bring out the beautiful colors
of the sky.
Downtown Duluth, before most people wake up in the
morning.
