Someday, I might live in a house and then I will build
a model railroad in my basement. Then, I
would purchase these things to build an operating model railroad. I would take an imaginary load of grain from
the rural grain elevator to the brewery.
Then, I would take an imaginary load of bottled and canned beer from the
brewery to a distribution warehouse, a port dock for loading into ships, and a model
railroad yard for cargo shipment to places beyond the edge of the model railroad.
I see that Union Pacific is telling people to stay safe around trains.
I found an example of a garden railroad.
Some people have a model railroad in their basement and
a second model railroad in their garden.
